The world needs teachers. SEMO will equip you for the 21st century classroom.

SEMO has been preparing teachers for more than 150 years, but much has changed. Today, we’re equipping our students pursuing education careers with the knowledge and experience to lead tomorrow’s classrooms. You’ll learn how to teach with technology in education, from virtual reality to bots in our EDvolution Center, a one of its kind technology learning lab. Our EDvolution model of teaching and focus on 1:1 tech has made us an Apple Distinguished School.

  • The United States is facing a teacher shortage in all levels of the profession, ensuring positions available in this high demand field.
  • SEMO has a rich tradition of preparing teachers. That history means we’ve built the partnerships and relationships to help our students get jobs through programs like EdHawk Scholars, Grow Your Own, and SEMO Educators Advantage.
  • Our Education Learning Community and EDvolution technology model of teaching benefit SEMO students by helping them grow the skills our school districts tell us they’re seeking. We’re also the only school in the nation offering education communications courses.
  • Multiple field experiences give education majors varied experiences, so they know their right fit before they graduate.
  • For master’s degree students, we’re the only school in Missouri offering HyFlex degree options so your degree is truly designed for your schedule.

Our programs put you in front of your own class earlier and offer more field hours than most programs in the state. You want to inspire the next generation. We invite you to learn with the leader in education innovation.

"In student teaching, you're basically doing the full job of a teacher. So, I know that whenever it's time for me to actually step in there on day one in August, I'll pretty much be set. That's what I need to do. I know what's expected of me. I know the ins-and-outs. I can't imagine another major where I'm just prepared to just jump both feet first into the job."
