Hear your performance hit a high note: you’ll do that here.
The Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra is a highly acclaimed orchestra that has had the honor to collaborate with well-known artists and has even toured both nationally and internationally. Free concerts, tours, and educational events are available to the community by the symphony orchestra each semester.
The Symphony Orchestra performs five to six orchestral concerts each year, performing engaging, diverse, and inspiring music from the Baroque era to the music of today.
Collaborations have occurred with nationally and internationally acclaimed guest artists, such as Mark O’Connor, Grammy Award Winning Violinist; Allen Vizzutti, Trumpet Virtuoso; Valentina Igoshina and Jack Gibbons, concert pianists; David Halen, Concertmaster of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra; and flutists Viviana Guzman and Mark Sparks.
The Symphony Orchestra has also commissioned and presented a number of world premieres, by such composers as Gordon (Dick) Goodwin (Timeless Banks and Shoals, commemorating the Tenth Anniversary of the River Campus, 2017), Robert Fruehwald (Dangerously Slick (2016) and River (2009), and Jim Stephenson (Two Brothers, 2013).
In addition, the orchestra has also given concerts in China under the auspices of the American Celebration of Music, performing in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou, as well as on the Great Wall of China. In July 2017, selected members of the Southeast Missouri Symphony participated in the Festival Suoni d’Abruzzo, Italy, performing in chamber, orchestral, and opera orchestra performances.
