Symphony Sampler - SEPT 10
Shuck Recital Hall - 3 p.m. A light-hearted introduction to the symphony, featuring student musicians from the symphony in a variety of chamber ensembles. Admission is free!
Gala Season Opener - OCT 10
Bedell Performance Hall - 7:30 p.m. In celebration of Southeast Missouri’s 150th anniversary, this All-American concert will present exciting works such as William Grant Still’s Afro-American Symphony and Charles Ives’ The Unanswered Question. Discounts available.
Rutter's Magnificat - NOV 28
Bedell Performance Hall - 7:30 p.m. British composer John Rutter composed the Magnificat in 1990; written for full chorus and orchestra, it is a lyrical, colorful work based on the traditional “Magnificat” canticle. Also on the program will be thrilling, festive works for symphony orchestra. A perfect concert to start off the holiday season! Discounts available.
Mozart's Coronation Mass - MAR 5
Bedell Performance Hall - 7:30 p.m. One of Mozart's most popular works for chorus and orchestra. First performed in 1779, its uplifting, joyous spirit has thrilled and inspired audiences for nearly 250 years. Also on the program will be the winners of the collegiate Concerto and Aria Competition. Discounts available.
Dvorak's From the New World - APR 23
Bedell Performance Hall - 7:30 p.m. The stellar artistry of guest cellist, Julian Schwarz, performing Elgar’s famous Cello Concerto in E Minor. The second half of the program the orchestra will perform one of the most popular symphonic works of all time: Dvorak’s “From the New World” Symphony. Discounts available.
