Take your talents to the next level: you’ll do that here.

The Southeast Missouri State chamber music program is designed to allow our students to collaborate with other musicians and gain performance skills. Allowing students to collaborate with other student musicians and string faculty while achieving musical artistry. The active string chamber music program consists of several talented, small ensembles that operate simultaneously. Southeast’s chamber music is open to both music majors and minors. String Quartets, Trios, and Quintets all get weekly coaching sessions with string faculty and rehearse independently.

Recent projects include the Max Bruch Octet, Antonin Dvorak’s “American” String quartet, and Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” as well as quartets by Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart, and trios by Dohnanyi, Reger, Mozart, and Pleyel.  String ensembles perform each semester and in addition are often called on for outside performances and paying gigs in the area.

For further information on string/orchestral opportunities at Southeast, please feel free to call Dr. Sara Edgerton at (573) 651-2140.
