Applying for a U.S. Visa
If you are not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States, upon receipt of your I-20 or DS-2019 from the University, you must apply for a visa at the United States Embassy or Consulate closest to your place of residence.
Suggested Arrival Dates
For each intake students have deadlines to submit the Arrival Information Form, are given recommended dates to arrive in Cape Girardeau, and the dates of their in-person International First Step Orientation which is mandatory for all new students to Southeast. Dates will be listed by intake term.

Getting to Cape Girardeau
The Office of International Education and Services offers pick-up services from the Cape Girardeau Airport during recommended arrival dates. Please fill out the Arrival Information Form to inform us of your travel and flight and travel information.

International Student Orientation is designed to help you get acquainted with and succeed at Southeast. This program, along with other ongoing services offered on campus, enables students to feel welcomed and comfortable.
Search for Housing
Southeast Missouri State University offers new students, regardless of student classification, the opportunity to live in one of the residence halls. The application process is simple and can be completed online once you have been admitted to the University. Southeast’s campus housing options include both traditional community-style housing and the popular suite-style housing.
