At Southeast we expect our students to use alcohol responsibly and to avoid driving if they are impaired.

Southeast students report that eight out 10 students know that a Designated Driver (DD) is defined as the person in the group who has had NO alcohol. Southeast students who find themselves in a situation where they do not have a sober driver can call the Cape County Transit Authority (CTA) at (573) 335-5533 for a complimentary SAFE RIDE from a drinking establishment within the city limits of Cape Girardeau to their place of residence in the city limits of Cape Girardeau. Students must show a valid student ID to use SAFE RIDE. The hours of this service are from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. from Thursday through Saturday.

About my Alcohol Use

Alcohol eCHECKUP TO GO is a brief online questionnaire that provides private, personalized feedback regarding your use patterns and frequency. The program also compares your alcohol use to that of other students and provides weekly, monthly, and annual estimates spent on alcohol. The information is then presented in a way that encourages you to make choices that align with your personal aspirations and goals.

Alcohol Poisoning Facts

Do you know about the dangers of alcohol poisoning? When should you seek professional help for a friend? Sadly enough, too many college students say they wish they would have sought medical treatment for a friend. Many end up feeling responsible for alcohol-related tragedies that could have easily been prevented.
