Southeast Missouri State University has a ton of opportunities for you to build your leadership skills! These leadership training, events, and organizations are for students, with students, and with the help of upperclassmen or university staff as guides. There are a wide variety of camps, clubs, programs and awards waiting for you to develop your skills and take charge!  

Camp Redhawk

Camp Redhawk is one of Southeast’s newest traditions and is the perfect place for incoming students to meet new friends and get involved on campus! This leadership program was created for students entering their first semester at SEMO. It offers an introduction to campus life and traditions while immersing you in school spirit and connecting you to other new Redhawks! There is no better place to become more familiar with the campus and community where you will be spending your next four years!

First Year Leadership Program (FYLP)

The First-Year Leadership Program - FYLP (pronounced flip) is the best place to explore your personality type, leadership style, and more, while meeting other students and building relationships with other University leaders! This program is designed specifically for first-year students at Southeast who are in good judicial standing with the University.

Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leaders (EL) is a University-sponsored, spring-semester program designed to develop future leaders by refining their leadership abilities and instilling in them a commitment to the campus and community. EL is open to first- and second-year undergraduate students interested in developing their interpersonal skills through fun and engaging activities!

President’s Leadership Academy

The President’s Leadership Academy (PLA) is one of Southeast’s top-tier leadership programs. PLA is a selective learning experience for 20 of the University’s most outstanding junior and senior student leaders. Participants create a Southeast Success Project, using their leadership to benefit their community.

Student Life & Leadership Awards

The Student Life and Leadership Awards program honors students, student organizations, and University professionals who support or meet needs in our community. Specifically, we seek to pay tribute to individuals and groups who successfully facilitate all sorts of benefits locally. Student Life and Leadership Awards will also recognize outstanding students in their academic programs and exemplary faculty for teaching excellence.
