Bias Response
Continue to main contentIf you have witnessed or experienced any bias within the Southeast community, we urge you to report the incident.
The Office of Equity Initiatives strongly encourages individuals who have experienced, witnessed, or become aware of conduct that violates our university’s Non-Discrimination Policy to file a report so that the university can take appropriate steps to prevent such conduct from occurring. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Office of Equity Initiatives at 573-651-2524 or equity@semo.edu.
Title IX Compliance
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education. Southeast Missouri State University’s Dean of Students ensures the University adheres to Title IX policies.
If we don’t know what’s going on, we can’t address it. You should submit a report:
- So we can help you, or others like you who might be in this situation
- So the University can get an accurate picture of the number and kinds of incidents that occur on campus and address them systemically
- So we can track over time what kinds of incidents are occurring (e.g., are we seeing more religious-bias incidents than we did five years ago?), and we can prioritize our efforts appropriately
Anyone with knowledge of a bias incident on campus may report the incident using the bias incident reporting form. That includes faculty, staff, students, as well as parents, alumni, and visitors to campus. It doesn't matter if you don't know who did it. We want you to report it!
Bias and Discrimination Reporting

Discrimination or harassment by members of the University community based on any of these classifications is reprehensible and will not be tolerated by the University.
