Do Your Work

If you want to leave a good impression on your professor, do your work! Staying active on class forums and consistently turning in work gets your name in front of the professor in a positive way. Applying what you’ve learned from the course to make insightful posts and homework assignments shows the professor you’re taking the course seriously.

Be Engaged

You’ll probably have questions during the course, don’t be afraid to ask for help! Asking questions shows you  care about the subject and want to do your best. There will also be times during the semester when the professor will ask a question by forum or email to see how everyone is doing. Make sure to answer, even if it’s just a short reply. The professor will appreciate the feedback whether you have a question or not.

Remember Your Manners

Treat your professor and classmates with respect. This means staying civil during what can sometimes be heated forum conversations, and making sure you address your professor and classmates with the proper titles and spelling. You also need to respect your professor’s time. While asking a relevant question can leave a good impression, asking something clearly answered in the syllabus won’t.

Keep in Touch

Stay in contact with the professor after the class ends. Send your professor an article that reminded you of their class or just touch base at the start of the semester by wishing them luck. These small conversations keep the door open for future opportunities and help your professor remember you.
