When a student submits a Southeast Missouri State University application for admission, they are required to acknowledge and sign the following statement:

“I understand that all undergraduate/bachelor's students are required to live on campus for two academic years unless they meet one of the University’s residency exemptions.
Southeast Missouri State University is a public institution that frequently takes photographs and videos in public spaces, campus buildings, and events. Due to the public nature of these spaces, I understand photo releases are not required and may be used in promotional materials on behalf of the University
By submitting this application, I agree to all Southeast Missouri State University policies and procedures, including Financial Liability: You are responsible for paying all charges on your account by the payment due dates, even if you do not receive a billing statement or your account is being covered by another party. If you do not pay your account immediately at the time of registration, you understand you are entering into a student loan agreement with Southeast Missouri State University and that this agreement means that the charges on your record for the cost of attendance are non-dischargeable under 11 U.S.C. § 523(a)(8)(B) [of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code]. Furthermore, this agreement shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri. If your account becomes delinquent, you may be subject to class cancellation and may not receive credit for your enrollment activity although your charges are still due to the University. If your account is referred for collection, you agree to pay all collection fees (not to exceed 40% of your total account balance) plus any reasonable attorney fees, including anything incurred at trial and/or on appeal. I authorize all educational institutions I have attended to release official transcripts or other information relevant to this application to Southeast. I understand if I am participating in a cooperative degree program between Southeast Missouri State University or another institution, my records may be shared with the cooperating institution.
I affirm that all information supplied is complete and accurate. I understand I must notify Admissions of civil or school discipline history changes after the date of application. I understand that any misrepresentation or change of facts could be cause for refusal of admission, cancellation of admission or suspension from the University.
For the purposes of distance education compliance, I understand that the University’s location procedure is to assume my location is in Missouri, once classes begin each term unless I am enrolled in a fully online-degree program, in which case, the state of residence is defined by the permanent residence address provided in this application.
The electronic signature simply contains your name, typed by you on your keyboard. The signature is your confirmation that the application you have filled out is your work and the information is factually true. Once you type in your name, this will count as your electronic signature.”
When a student is admitted to Southeast Missouri State University, their acceptance letter states:
“This offer of admission requires acceptable completion of your remaining coursework, high school graduation, and receipt of your final high school transcript. When your official transcript is received, we will verify your admissibility.”
