Speak Out
Continue to main contentThe Center for Speech and Hearing at Southeast has been awarded a grant from the Parkinson Voice Project in Dallas, TX. This grant funds staff training and resources for a speech intervention program tailored to individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease called SPEAK OUT!®.
This program combines education and individual speech therapy to ensure the best training for our clients.
The Center’s state-licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologists, along with graduate students who will also have received training in the SPEAK OUT!® program, will provide this intervention at no cost to persons with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
This program is flexible in scheduling depending on the needs of the individual. Participation in the program consists of two to three individual one-hour appointments per week for three to four weeks.
Once an individual has completed SPEAK OUT!®, they are invited to participate in follow-up sessions of The LOUD Crowd®, a social group promoting maintenance of therapy gains and community support. The LOUD Crowd® provides accountability and education through weekly group sessions.
