Odd Nocturnals, an Exhibition of Works by Heaven Moore, will be on view from Friday, December 6 through Monday, January 13 in the Slingshot Gallery at Catapult Creative House.

Heaven Moore is originally from Sikeston, Missouri and is pursuing a BFA in Art. She became interested in art after taking an art class during her final year of high school. Moore knew she wanted to continue to explore art making when she came to SEMO. She loves imaginary creatures and beasts and brings them to life in her work.

According to Moore, “The real world is a little bland because we see the same things day after day. The beings I create are meant to add some mystery to the world. I want to fill it with wondrous beasts and creatures that I create in my mind.”

Each month, as a part of a program to promote community based and integrated art making, a student artist is chosen to exhibit his or her work at the Slingshot Gallery at Catapult Creative House. These exhibitions showcase a range of work from individual artists that highlights their personal and professional artistic explorations as a part of the Southeast Missouri art community. These artists explore the physicality of the human condition, its relationship to nature, and the role of art in contemporary society.

An opening reception for Odd Nocturnals will take place on Friday, December 6 from 5-7 p.m. in the Slingshot Gallery at Catapult Creative House. This event is free and open to the public.
