Dan Presson has been appointed interim assistant vice president for economic and workforce development at Southeast Missouri State University.
Presson has been with the University for nearly a decade. He served as an admission counselor and as assistant director of Admissions for transfer recruitment before accepting a position as coordinator of employee relations in the University’s Career Services office. In 2017, Presson became director of Career Services where he became committed to connecting students and alumni with employers to support development of the workforce regionally.
The appointment follows the resignation of current AVP John Mehner due to his family relocating out of the area.
“John has made much progress since this new division was created earlier this year. He has worked diligently to advance the University’s goals of partnering with our region’s employers,” said Southeast President Dr. Carlos Vargas. “We are fortunate to have Dan continue this progress as he is not only skilled and knowledgeable in the areas of economic and workforce development but is also a leader in our community. Dan will be able to continue the work to reach those goals as a search to fill the position takes place.”
Vargas said Presson will serve in the interim appointment until the search is complete or June 30, 2023, whichever comes first.
