Snodgrass was one of five candidates who visited campus following a nationwide search. He is currently the vice president for institutional advancement at the University of Texas Permian Basin. He will begin his new duties at Southeast December 1, 2022.

“We are very pleased to welcome Wendell to the Southeast community,” said Dr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast Missouri State University. “He brings with him a wealth of experience in higher education fundraising and alumni engagement that will build upon our recent success of record-giving years and provide more resources and opportunities for Southeast students.”

The Southeast Missouri University Foundation raises funds and manages resources that allow Southeast to enhance the quality and extend the range of services provided to its students and the region. The Foundation also works closely with and recognizes donors who assist in improving growth, visibility and excellence of the University. 

“The entire SEMO community was warm and welcoming during my visit,” said Snodgrass. “I am looking forward to working with Dr. Vargas, the Foundation team, the Foundation Board, and all my new colleagues at Southeast as we focus on the student population and serving the region.”

“During his visit, Wendell articulated his dedication to true student-centered philanthropy that really resonated with us,” said Amanda Lincoln, current interim vice president of advancement. “His focus on collaboration has us eager to welcome him to the team.”

Snodgrass has served as the vice president for institutional advancement for the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa since 2018. During his tenure, the number of alumni giving to the university has more than doubled. Prior to that, he served as vice president for advancement and university relations at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin. There, his team exceeded fundraising goals and annual fund objectives each year in addition to increasing alumni giving each year.

He has an Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts from Benedictine College. He has a certificate in estate planning from the College of William and Mary. Snodgrass serves on the Odessa United Way Board and is a past member of Rotary and the Optimist Club.
