Agriculture Club Scholarship 

Since 1952, the Agriculture Club maintained a small beef herd. In 1989, with the help of Dr. Bill Ellis and Dr. William Meyer, a decision was made to sell the herd and use the money to endow this scholarship. 

The Agriculture Club awards this scholarship for high academic achievement. This award is given to one recruited freshman and one upperclassman. Eligible students must have declared a major or minor in agriculture. Sophomore and junior applicants may have no grade below a "C" and must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Recipients must be of sound moral character and in need of financial assistance. 

Agriculture Work-Study Scholarship 

The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University. The scholarship shall be awarded as a work-study program for a deserving student to have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience working at, but not limited to, the Barton Agriculture Research Center, the Nemanick and Horticulture Greenhouses, or at the regional campus agriculture programs. 

Applicants must complete an application in the Department of Agriculture to be considered for this scholarship. This scholarship is renewable, but recipients must reapply each year. 

Barry & Michelle Aycock Endowed Scholarship 

The scholarship recipient must be an Agriculture major attending Southeast Missouri State University – Sikeston, Malden, or Kennett campus with a 2.5 or higher GPA. First preference will be given to a minority student who meets the above stated criteria. 

David M. Barton Endowed Scholarship 

Originally from Arkansas, David M. Barton moved to Catron, Mo., in the early 1930s and farmed in New Madrid County until his death in 1987. His contributions to the agricultural history of southeast Missouri include 35 years on the board of supervisors of the Little River Drainage District, during which he served as board president from 1962 to 1987. Since her husband's death, June Barton has served as owner and manager of David M. Barton Farms and continued farming the land she loves. The recipient of this scholarship must be a full-time student with a major within the Department of Agriculture. To be considered for scholarship renewal, the recipient must be making acceptable progress within that major. 

Jack & Pauline Bess Scholarship 

The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who is majoring in Agriculture, Business, or in the College of Health & Human Services who is from Puxico, Missouri. Second preference shall go to a student who is from Stoddard County with the aforementioned majors. Third preference shall go to a student who is from the University’s service area with the aforementioned majors. This scholarship is renewable. 

Burch Family Scholarship Fund 

Mr. Burch is a 1957 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University from Sikeston, Missouri. 

The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University majoring in Agriculture. Academic performance along with financial need will be considered (but not required). First preference will go to students residing in Scott & New Madrid counties. This scholarship is renewable. 

Melanie Renee Cantrell Scholarship 

The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student at Southeast Missouri State University majoring in the College of Science, Technology & Agriculture. This scholarship is renewable. 

Scott Collins Memorial Scholarship 

Scott Collins was a high school senior at Tamms, Illinois who was electrocuted in a farm accident while moving a grain auger near a power line on the family farm. His classmates established this scholarship in his memory. 

First preference will be given to a student enrolled in the Agriculture program and living in the Egyptian School District or, if none apply, then to a student from Alexander County, Illinois. If no applications are received from an agriculture student, then the award can be given to a student from the above-mentioned areas, in the order listed. The recipient shall be selected by the Agriculture Department. 

Friant Memorial Scholarship 

Mrs. Bertha Friant and her family established this scholarship in 1983. Mrs. Friant graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1910 and was a member of the college faculty, serving as primary supervisor at the training school. Julien N. Friant, her husband, was a 1907 Southeast graduate. He served as a member and chairman of the Teacher's College Board of Regents from 1931 to 1935. 

This scholarship is for entering freshmen whose parents or guardians are residents of, and registered voters, in Perry, Madison, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Stoddard, New Madrid, Pemiscot, or Dunklin counties. The recipient of this scholarship must declare a major in agriculture or agri-business. The scholarship is renewable for agriculture students who maintain a 3.5 GPA. 

Jennings Brothers Endowed Agriculture Scholarship 

Jennings Brothers, Inc. is a farming corporation owned by Charles Dan Jennings, Jr., and Thomas L. Jennings. The brothers currently farm approximately 5,000 acres with crops consisting of corn, wheat, soybeans, and rice. The brothers, Dan and Tom, as they are known by their friends, own approximately 1,500 more acres and rent the balance of the land they farm. Both Dan and Tom attended Southeast Missouri State University. Dan attended for two years from 1968 until 1970, and Tom attended for three years from 1971 until 1974. Tom graduated in 1974 with honors. 

The recipient of this scholarship must be an Agriculture major attending Southeast Missouri State University locations in Sikeston who has a GPA of 2.0. This scholarship is renewable. 

Kidd Family Scholarship Fund 

Forrest Kidd is a 1961 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and Ernestine Kidd is a 1962 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in High School Education, emphasis in Biology. 

The Kidds are the owners of Kidd’s Inc., and have been long-time supporters of the University, the athletic program and the annual golf tournament sponsored by Cape West Rotary which benefits student scholarships at Southeast. 

The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who majors in one of the majors offered in the College of Science, Technology & Agriculture. Financial need is a preference for the scholarship, but it is not a requirement. This scholarship is renewable. 

William E. and Joan Meyer Scholarship 

Dr. Bill Meyer was born in north St. Francois County in Missouri. After high school graduation, he spent two years in the U.S. Army. After returning from the armed services, he attended Flat River Junior College from 1957 to 1958 where he received a B.S. in animal husbandry. He received a M.S. in meat technology in 1960 and his Ph.D. in 1965 from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He started his teaching career at Southeast Missouri State University in 1965 and continued until his retirement in 1999. He served as chairperson of the Agriculture Department from 1970 to 1990, and interim chairperson in 1995. 

The recipient of this scholarship will be a major in any of the disciplines within the Department of Agriculture. Recipients must also be Missouri residents and demonstrate financial need. Freshmen or transfer students from a community college are eligible. The recipient must not be a recipient of another major scholarship. 

J.C. and Dorothy S. Miller Scholarship 

This award was made possible by Dr. and Mrs. J.C. "Jack" Miller. Dr. Miller attended the old Normal School and Teachers' College in Cape Girardeau, Missouri from 1918 until 1922. He then went on to teach and became principal at Gideon High School until 1926. Dr. Miller received his Ph.D. in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1937. He has been widely recognized for his achievements in animal production improvements, and his effectiveness has been demonstrated from the classroom to research to direct contact with producer groups. 

The Miller Scholarship is available to upper-class students who are majoring in the biological sciences, including Agriculture. The selection will be based on scholarship, leadership, and need. 

James Harold Paullus Agriculture Scholarship Fund 

This scholarship is to be awarded to students with agriculture as their primary field of study. Recipients must show evidence of need, research ability, and a willingness to work in concert with a faculty member of the University who teaches or conducts research in the field of agriculture. First preference will be given to students from Wayne County or bordering counties in Missouri. 

H.B. Campbell Memorial Scholarship (Sikeston) 

This scholarship is named in honor of Mr. H.B. Campbell by his daughter Ms. Harryette Campbell. 

This scholarship shall be awarded to a female student living in southeast Missouri attending Southeast Missouri State University-Sikeston campus majoring in agriculture.
