Are you looking into becoming a Redhawk? Just last year, I was in your shoes trying to decide where I wanted to spend my next two years.

The thought of transferring schools was exciting, but also nerve-wracking for me. I had so many thoughts running through my head: wondering if I would make any friends, be able to handle moving away from home or if I would like it better here than at my junior college.
It was important to me to find a university that was safe, affordable and reached my educational interests. Most of all, it was essential to find a university where all of my credits would transfer. Luckily, I was able to check every requirement off of my list at SEMO.
After visiting Southeast, I felt so welcomed and encouraged to do my best. As a junior, some of my classes are becoming more advanced and it was assuring to hear that SEMO offers tutoring services to help me with any coursework that I have trouble with. I knew that I would succeed here and build the qualities I will need to help me flourish in the real world after I graduate. I have met so many amazing instructors, faculty members and students who have made me feel at home at Southeast. On my first day of classes, I was super nervous and homesick. I remember walking to Dr. Dickson’s class as he welcomed all of us with a big smile on his face and I knew that everything was going to be just fine. His positivity made me feel that same welcoming feeling that I got when I first visited SEMO.
Moving to a new place, especially to a whole different state can be pretty intimidating. I was terrified about having to step out of my comfort zone and meet new people at a school where I barely knew anyone. However, venturing out of my safe place was my smartest decision yet. After just one semester at Southeast, I already feel like I have grown both intellectually and personally. I never thought that I would be up late having game nights and study sessions with people that I didn’t even know six months ago, but I am lucky to have made so many strong bonds.
At Southeast Missouri State University, I believe that there is no limit to what you can achieve. I am so glad that I took a chance on SEMO. Become a Redhawk and experience all of the great things that Southeast has to offer!
