Welcome to the LGBTQ+ Resource Center. We're here to help create a comfortable and safe environment for collaboration, awareness, and simply a community for students, faculty, and staff members to connect.

Who We Are:

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Resource Center is a functional area within the Office of Equity Initiatives at Southeast Missouri State University. The LGBTQ+ Resource Center works to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for our SEMO community.  This Center serves as a campus and community resource. We accomplish our mission through the development of healthy communities, purposeful partnerships, and leadership development within a culture of celebration and inclusion.

Center Goals:

  • To provide SafeZone training sessions, discussion groups, campus-wide events, and access to resources that reflect and support a diverse SEMO campus, focusing on equity and justice.
  • Serve as a source of awareness, information, and resources for the SEMO campus on LGBTQ identity, culture, and issues.
  • Support students in their development of skills, knowledge, and awareness of the world around them enabling them to create a positive environment.
  • To promote education and understanding of the LGBTQ+ community through training, resource materials, programming, and community outreach.

The LGBTQ+ Resource Center seeks to create a welcoming, inclusive, and affirming campus environment for students. The LGBTQ+ Resource Center strives to engage and provide resources, support, educational training workshops, and programming to empower and promote equity.

LGBTQ+ Resource Center envisions a campus community that actively and openly affirms, celebrates, and encourages the free expression of everyone’s sexual and romantic orientations and/or gender identity and expression. The LGBTQ+ Resource Center supports our students, faculty, and staff to empower us to find shared humanity and strength within ourselves and each other. Our Center’s advocacy seeks to provide resources and educational training to our campus communication.
