Elections for the Student Government Association Executive Board occur every spring semester.
The President, Vice President, and Treasurer of the Student Government Association are voted on by the entire student body. Other Executive Board Positions: Secretary, Chief of Staff, Parliamentarian, Student Issues Chair, Special Projects Chair, University Affairs Chair, and Diversity and Inclusion Chair are appointed by the President.
Steps to file for 2023-2024 President, Vice President, or Treasurer Positions:
- Complete and submit the statement of candidacy form at the bottom of this page between Tuesday, January 17 and Monday, March 20 at 5 p.m.
- Within three days of filing the above material, the Elections Committee shall determine eligibility of candidate and officially verify or not verify candidate's ability to run for office. Candidates will be notified by email.
- If verified, candidates may prepare and execute campaign for office one month prior to election days, closely following eligibility qualifications and campaign regulations set forth by the Elections Committee. (For more information reference bylaw 405.01).
- Join in on scheduled, mediated debate between candidates should there be multiple candidates running for the same office.
- Be mindful that general election voting occurs online on April 5 and 6, 2023.
- If elected, meet with predecessor to be transitioned into new role by Monday, May 2.
- Attend end of the year Student Government Association banquet to be sworn into new position on Monday, May 1.
- Await first senate meeting of the next semester for pending approval of two-thirds of student senate.
Prospective Student Government Association Senators
The Student Government Association Senators are voted on by their constituents in their respective college. Should there be an open position on the student senate a special election occurs.
Steps to file for 2023-2024 General Election Senator Position:
- Complete and submit the statement of candidacy form at the bottom of this page before Tuesday, March 1 at 5 p.m.

Prospective Student Government Association First-Year Senators
First-Year Senators have a specific selection process which will open on Monday, August 14, 2023. Below is an overview of the process.
Steps to file for 2023-2024 First-Year Senator Position:
- Complete and Submit SElink application by Sunday, August 27 at 12 noon.
- Schedule an interview with First-Year Senator selection committee online.
- Interviews will be held between August 28-September 1.
- First-Year Senator selection committee deliberates results after conclusion of all interviews.
- Await phone call or email from Student Government Vice President regarding status of selection.
- If selected, candidate names will be recommended to the Student Senate for confirmation by majority vote.
- If confirmed by Student Senate, First Year Senators begin serving at the first senate meeting of the semester.
