Maybe it's where you always did your homework or hung out with friends, or perhaps its where you worshiped on Sunday evenings. Whatever your memories of the Newman Center on campus, things have certainly changed.

Just before the pandemic, the Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Cape Girardeau broke ground for a new Newman Center on campus. Three existing buildings were demolished to make room for a modern facility to better equip the campus ministry for its work with students. During construction, Mass was held in Rose Theatre in the Grauel Building.

A team of students with the Department of Mass Media spoke with Deacon Tom Schumer and the Center's architects to share what went into re-envisioning the facility.
