Intranet of Things, an exhibition of works by Christine Adame, will be on view Friday, February 7, through Friday, February 28 in the main gallery at Catapult Creative House.

Christine Adame is an intermedia artist from Laredo, Texas. Her artwork relates to heritage, especially as informed by her mestiza identity. She teaches book arts, printmaking, and graphic design as Assistant Professor at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. She has exhibited in Texas, the Midwest, and Japan, notably at Conduit Gallery in Dallas, Texas, the Crisp Museum in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the Amarillo Museum of Art.

Her work centers on heritage—nurtured by her experience as a mestiza Tejana, or mixed-race Texan. She spent many years of her childhood moving between Texas cities. This nomadic experience led her to accept transition as a natural state of life. The concept of nepantla, or “in-betweenness” as described by Gloria Anzaldúa, shapes her work, which seeks to exist between apparent binaries such as the personal and political, gendered spaces, and state and self.

An opening reception for Intranet of Things will take place on Friday, February 7 from 5-7 p.m. with an artist talk at 4p.m.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.
