Stop by the River Campus Art Expansion building to view this two-person exhibit by artists David Wischer and Lisa Wicka!

"CTRL + Press: Artwork by Lisa Wicka and David Wischer” is a two person exhibit based on a conference talk by printmakers David Wischer and Lisa Wicka held at Kolaj Live in 2019. The artwork presented continues the conversation of navigating digital and analog worlds through each artist's work. These artworks examine their connection, and often disconnect, from digital and analog surroundings. The work reflects the struggle to connect to their own history, the current state of the world, and the person standing right next to us.

David Wischer uses the senselessness of daily life as a foundation for humorous dialogue with the viewer. He uses printmaking, drawing, collage and elements of graphic design as a vehicle for the mixing and matching of incongruous images. Because these images are a fusion of personal and appropriated imagery, viewers may understand part of the work and be confused by others. This public and private information mirrors our own encounter with images in popular culture and mass media that we see everyday.

Lisa Wicka’s work references architectural spaces, raw materials, patterns and textures in her mixed media prints and brings into question the solidity and accuracy of things we hold true. Temporary moments of clarity come together and fall apart creating a self in motion, evolving through experience, place, failures and successes. Her work is a surface where this dialogue becomes visible explorations, as a surrogate self with limitless possibilities.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Professor Nancy Palmeri by phone at (573)-651-2720 or email at npalmeri@semo.edu.
