Instructor — Marketing
Dr. Thorne has been teaching in the Department of Management and Marketing since the Fall of 1999. He received his B.S. from Northeast Missouri (now Truman) State University and his MBA and Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he taught marketing classes on a part-time basis from 1992 until 1999. At Southeast Missouri State University, he teaches both web and non-web courses in the areas of Retail Marketing, Sport Marketing, Advertising and Promotion, Principles of Marketing, and Consumer Behavior.
Dr. Thorne is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators, and Tri-State Advertising and Marketing Professionals, as well as the Game Publishers Association and Game Manufacturers of America. He recently had an article published in Qualitative Marketing Research as well as in the proceedings of the ACME. He also sits on the board of directors of Carbondale Main Street and runs Castle Perilous Games and Books in his copious amounts of free time. The wall of his office is plastered with movie posters, which is unusual since he very seldom gets to go to one.
