Professor — Marketing
Sandipan (Sandy) Sen is a Professor of Marketing at Harrison College of Business and Computing, Southeast Missouri State University. Dr. Sen received his Ph.D. from the University of Memphis, with Marketing being his major concentration and Cognitive Psychology being his minor area. He has earned his Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis on Marketing, and Bachelors in Electronics Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India. Dr. Sen joined Southeast in 2008 as an ABD and got promoted to Associate Professor in 2014 and Professor in June 2020.
Dr. Sen teaches Marketing Management, Public Relations, Internet Marketing, Professional Selling, IMC practicum, International Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Advertising and Sales Promotion, and Principles of Marketing to undergraduate students at Southeast. He also taught a variety of courses at the University of Memphis and the University of Tennessee at Martin prior to joining Southeast.
Sandipan serves as a Graduate and Honors faculty; supervises Independent Studies and Graduate Projects. He promotes experiential learning in most of his courses which has led to more than sixty wins at the local American Advertising Awards of the student-run project outcomes from some of his courses over the last ten years.
The research areas that are of major interest to him are Marketing Strategy, Services Marketing, IMC, and Marketing Pedagogy. Dr. Sen has numerous publications in journals like Journal of Services Marketing, International Journal of Integrated Supply Management, International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing, Marketing Management Journal, Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics, International Journal of Mobile Communications, Marketing Education Review; two book chapters, and several conference proceedings. He received three best conference paper in track awards in 2013, 2015, and 2017 and was the Copper Dome Faculty Fellow for Excellence in Research from 2012- 2014.
Dr. Sen is a member of the college promotion and tenure committee, publication quality committee, chaired the recent department academic prioritization process for IMC area and the committee for revising the HCBC handbook. He has previously served in university committees such as university promotion and tenure committee, information technology committee, academic advising council and the college assurance of learning committee. Sandipan advises marketing majors; advised the International Business Club till 2016; and helped train students to compete in regional and national DECA competitions. He is a longtime member and the current secretary of Society for Marketing Advances (SMA), a well-regarded international organization for marketing academics. He regularly serves as a reviewer for prestigious marketing journals such as Journal of Business Research, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Small Business Strategies, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics, International Journal of Mobile Communications, etc.
Dr. Sen also has four years of corporate experience in an International Advertising Agency at Mumbai, India prior to joining the University of Memphis.
