I graduated public high school at Clearwater High School in Piedmont, MO in 1996. I then attended College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO. I received a BS in Industrial Technology, Mathematics, and Education in 2001. I then received a graduate assistantship at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg in the Career & Technology department. My duties included curriculum development for engineering courses through a grant from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MoDESE). I also designed and implemented a "model" technology and engineering lab at UCM for use as a practice lab to train educators.

I completed my MS in Technology and Occupational Education in 2004. I received hands-on industrial and construction experience through various jobs at the Army Corps of Engineers (Clearwater Lake Project), Sam A. Baker State Park (Patterson, MO), Custom Wood Tech (Warrensburg, MO), and S and W Cabinets (Chaffee, MO). I am also a licensed general contractor (Mac's – McMurry Artisan and Craftsman Specialties), specializing in historic preservation and restoration. I previously worked at the high school level as both a Mathematics teacher and Industrial Arts (Technology and Engineering) teacher at Clearwater High School, Chilhowee High School, and Chaffee High School.

I taught courses in woodworking, metalworking, welding, robotics, computer-aided drafting, graphics, photography, electronics, stained glass, CNC/CAM, calculus, trigonometry, algebra, and general math. I am certified in Agriculture, Industrial Technology, and Mathematics. I also taught dual credit courses and served as an adjunct faculty for the engineering and technology department at SEMO.

I have received several awards in engineering and technology education: KFVS12 Heartlands Best Teacher, FIRST Robotics "Woodie Flowers" mentor award, Technology Education Association of Missouri (TEAM) teacher and program of the year honors, and the Donald Maley "Spirit of Excellence" graduate student award from ITEEA. Career highlights include multiple trips to the FIRST Robotics World Championships at the FTC and FRC level (Houston, Atlanta, St. Louis) and multiple state / district titles in the Missouri TEAM student technology (Industrial Arts) competitions. In 2020, I was hired to replace Mr. Kevin McMeel (retired) in the Construction Management and Design program in the E and T department at SEMO, as a full-time faculty.
