Southeast Missouri State University is hosting more than 150 students for its fourth annual Health Professions Day on Friday, October 24. The experience offers students a first-hand look at the opportunities available through SEMO’s health-related programs, highlighting the University’s role in shaping tomorrow’s healthcare leaders.
“Health Professions Day gives prospective students the chance to learn about the health-related programs we offer at SEMO and discover areas they might be interested in,” said Dr. Tim Judd, Biological and Environmental Sciences department chair. “It’s also a great opportunity to meet our faculty and students and experience the atmosphere at SEMO.”
Participants will attend an academic fair at the University Center, a welcome event with the deans and academic breakouts with college deans and chairs. These sessions give students an opportunity to learn more about all healthcare related programs. Attendees will also enjoy lunch and guided campus tours, providing a complete picture of life at SEMO.
Health Professions Day reflects SEMO’s commitment to becoming a launchpad for students seeking meaningful, high-impact careers in healthcare. Partners such as St. George’s University (SGU) and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) will have representatives available to give students the opportunity to learn more about pathways to medical schools.
“We host this event every year because our prospective student body is always changing, and so are we. It’s a way to showcase how SEMO continues to grow and improve our academic offerings,” said Judd.
