Business owners, leaders and community stakeholders are invited to attend Cyber Threat Awareness for Business Leaders, a training event hosted at Southeast Missouri State University’s Charles Stamp Cyber Command Center on Friday, March 28. The event aims to raise awareness of cybersecurity risks, provide essential information on cyber defense, and encourage community engagement with the Stamp Cyber Command Center.
For a $25 registration fee, attendees will gain insights into critical cybersecurity topics, including basic defense strategies for themselves and their employees. The training will feature an IBM Attack Master demonstration, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how cybercriminals infiltrate systems.
“This training is designed to help business leaders and owners better understand the threats they face and how to protect their organizations,” said Dan Presson, assistant vice president for economic and workforce development at SEMO. “We also hope to inspire interest in future cybersecurity training and connect local businesses with SEMO’s talented students and graduates in this field.”
Attendees will explore the state-of-the-art Charles Stamp Cyber Command Center, opened in October 2024 as a hub for cybersecurity education, training and research. SEMO’s Dr. Mario Garcia, director of the Institute of Cybersecurity, and Bill Green, information security officer, will present insights on key cybersecurity strategies and best practices. Business leaders can learn how the center provides customized cybersecurity solutions tailored to their needs. This training is also a great opportunity to network with cybersecurity professionals, business leaders and industry experts, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
Participants in the Cyber Threat Awareness for Business Leaders training will leave with a stronger awareness of cybersecurity risks, actionable steps to enhance their defenses, and opportunities to engage with SEMO’s cybersecurity program.
