Southeast Missouri State University is one of the institutions selected for The Princeton Review’s 2024 Best Colleges, representing the Midwest Region.
The Princeton Review selects 630 colleges in seven regions to highlight outstanding academic quality. The 630 colleges named make up about 25% of all four-year colleges in the nation.
The 150 premier colleges selected in the Midwest Region are chosen to help guide college searches. Colleges are not ranked. The full list of colleges in the Midwest can be found on the Princeton Review website.
The Midwest includes colleges from Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
“We recommened Southeast as an ideal choice for students searching for their ‘best-fit’ college,” said Rob Franek, Editor-in-Chief of The Princeton Review. “We selected it – along with the other exceptional schools on our Best Regional Colleges list – primarily due to our high regard for their academics.”
Over 2,000 college administrators are surveyed each year to collect information about academics, cost, campus life, student population, policies, and services. There is also a student survey that helps rate the institutions.
Some of the student comments about Southeast include “small class sizes” with “personal attention” and a “wide range of majors,” along with the comment “they try to make everybody feel welcome.”
“It is important to note that we also consider what students attending the schools report to us about their experiences at them,” Franek said.
Southeast focuses on high-quality education for a low cost with 80 percent of Southeast’s academic programs holding specific accreditations with various accrediting bodies. Southeast’s undergraduate domestic applications are due by Dec. 1, 2023 for fall 2024. Students are automatically considered for admission and scholarships with one application
