“I am excited to see the campus so close to our 70% goal. The support from our faculty, staff, and most importantly students has been great. We are just 372 more vaccinations away from a week-long Thanksgiving break and for many people knowing that we are at 65% gives them a great deal of optimism we will hit our goal,” said Bruce Skinner, associate vice president for Student Life at Southeast.

 “The sooner we reach this goal, the sooner we can all start making our holiday plans for the week of Thanksgiving,” he noted.  

One Shot Counts: The University is including individuals who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the incentive program. The first dose is the first step to being fully vaccinated, and the University recognizes first doses as part of slowing the spread of COVID.

If the 70% vaccination rate goal is reached by Nov. 1, students, faculty and staff will get to enjoy a weeklong Thanksgiving holiday break Nov. 22-26. The vaccination rate reflects the number of faculty, staff and students that have shared proof of vaccination with the University, including those who have received at least one dose of the vaccine. 

Students, faculty and staff can get their first dose, second dose or Pfizer booster at the vaccination clinic scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 20 in the University Center Program Lounge where Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be administered. The vaccination clinics are scheduled every Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and the vaccines administered at each clinic can vary. Check the schedule for the list of vaccines administered each week.

To be counted in the incentive program and help the University reach its 70% goal, members of the Redhawk community can:

• upload a scan or photo of their vaccination card, or
• present their card in person (no scan or upload needed) at:
  • the Student Recreation Center,
  • Room 413 in the University Center,
  • River Campus Chart Clinic in Dobbins Center,
  • Regional Campuses,
  • any of the weekly vaccination clinics, and
  • any of the locations listed here (see second bullet under Assessing).

Additionally, the next round of cash prize drawings for students will be Monday, Nov. 1. Students only need to submit their vaccination card once to be eligible for all drawings. If a student hasn’t submitted their proof of vaccination yet, they have until Friday to submit to be eligible for the Oct. 29 drawing. There will be 20 $500 prizes and 20 $250 prizes for the drawing.

The Great SEMO Vaccine Give Away Get Away incentive program launched on Aug. 26, and the vaccination rate for the campus community has steadily risen as the program progresses, with vaccination rates of 42% on Sept. 21, 51% on Sept. 28, 58.3% on Oct. 5 and 61.4% on Oct. 12.
