Southeast Missouri State University has achieved a 42% vaccination rate as part of The Great SEMO Vaccine Give Away Get Away incentive program – a milestone set this week that puts the campus on a progressive trajectory to reach its goal of 70% vaccination rate among students, faculty and staff by Nov. 1.
“We’re so proud and excited to be more than half way to our goal,” said Dr. Debbie Below, vice president for enrollment management and student success. “A vaccinated campus population improves our chances of continuing to do things we love to do and keep our University community safe.”
If the 70% goal is achieved, students, faculty and staff will enjoy a weeklong Thanksgiving holiday break. Classes scheduled for Nov. 22 and 23 will be cancelled and offices will be closed Nov. 22-26.
Additionally this week, 80 students were among the first round of winners from the Get Away, Give Away Program. 40 students earned $500 in cash prizes and 40 students earned $250 in cash prizes. View a list of winners here. The first drawings took place on Sept. 20 and will continue through Nov. 1.
Southeast student, faculty and staff can upload a scan or photo of their vaccination card or present their card in person at locations on the main and regional campuses.
Walk-in vaccination clinics are also scheduled every Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the University Center Program Lounge.
