Southeast Missouri State University has been recognized by Forbes as part of its third annual ‘America’s Best-In-State Employers 2021’ list, ranking as one of the top ten employers in Missouri.
Southeast ranked eighth in the state and is also the only organization based in Cape Girardeau to make the list.
“This recognition signifies the culture we foster here at Southeast in providing a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for our faculty and staff to be able to serve our students, alumni and the community,” said Dr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast. “I want to also thank our human resources department and employee groups such as the Faculty Senate, Professional Staff Council and Administrative Council for their contributions in creating a positive and productive work environment.”
The ‘Best-In-State Employer’ designation recognizes Southeast, which has 983 full- and part-time employees, as an organization that provides excellent employment opportunities at the local and national level.
This recognition was the result of a survey of 80,000 U.S. employees across 25 industry sectors. Forbes collected direct recommendations from employees as well as indirect recommendations from workers in the industry. The survey considered every aspect of an employees’ experience such as working conditions, salary, potential for growth, and diversity. Of the thousands of companies eligible for this recognition, only a select few are awarded in each state.
