The Southeast Missouri State University Mission Statement explicitly calls for embracing a tradition of "exceptional teaching."  The role of the CTL is to provide services and support to the Southeast teaching community.  Excellent teachers are to be celebrated and their work shared, and faculty are to be afforded the tools and materials necessary to reach excellence.

 Dr. Dana Branson

 Dr. Branson Teaching

Dana C. Branson is an assistant professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, Social Work and Sociology and began her journey with the department as an adjunct instructor in 2009.  Dr. Branson earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Northcentral University in 2011, received her Master of Social Work (child and family emphasis) from the University of Kansas in 1995, and completed her undergraduate work at Southwest Baptist University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology in 1993. 

Dr. Branson has been a licensed practitioner (LCSW) and a member of NASW since 1997.  Dr. Branson joined Southeast Missouri State after 21 years of clinical experience with substance use disorders, mental health, co-occurring disorders, and trauma-informed care.  Dr. Branson’s practice is focused primarily with women and adolescents and incorporates the many diverse dynamics of rural social work. Dr. Branson regularly serves as a conference presenter, providing workshops, breakout sessions, and guided discussions on vicarious trauma, adolescent substance abuse trends, and military social work.  Dr. Branson has participated in international social work opportunities in Ireland, Belarus, and Brazil. She hopes to return to Belarus to provide ongoing support to grassroots efforts to establish half-ways homes for women struggling with substance use disorders.
