Fearlessly forward in nursing: mastering today’s care with tomorrow’s tech.
Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Nursing, housed on the third floor of Crisp Hall, offers students access to seven specialized labs—including a high-tech Simulation Center, fundamentals skills labs, and dedicated ICU, pediatric, obstetric and NICU simulation spaces—designed to mirror real clinical environments. With over 80 mannequins and specialty devices, including 12 high-fidelity models and 7 brand-new mannequins valued at over $100,000, students gain hands-on experience in a wide range of clinical scenarios. The program features advanced tools like Alaris IV pumps, pediatric crash carts and the Pyxis medication system, all used under the guidance of faculty who are certified healthcare simulation educators and committed to aligning practices with INACSL standards of best practice—the benchmark for excellence in simulation-based education. This innovative, experience-driven environment builds clinical judgment, confidence and readiness, ensuring SEMO nursing students are fully prepared to care for patients of all ages with the technology and expertise required in today's fast-paced healthcare settings.
