Faculty Regalia Cap Size Information
Please measure your head (in inches) approximately one inch above your ears. Use a tape measure if you have one. If you do not have a tape measure, please use something flexible that does not stretch, such as cotton string, a shoe lace, or plastic twine. (Examples of items that should NOT be used are yarn, elastic, or stretchy fabric.)
You may use a ruler or yardstick to measure the length of what you wrapped around your head. Find your measurement in the left column below. Your cap size is in the right column on the corresponding line.
If you are not absolutely sure of the exact measurement, err on the larger side. For example, if your head measures 18 3/4", choose size 6 rather than 5 7/8. If your cap is too loose, it can be secured with bobby pins, or you can wear a headband or sweatband under the cap to keep it secure. If the cap is too tight, you will be uncomfortable throughout the ceremony, and may not be able to keep the cap on your head.
