Mission Statement

The mission of the Prevention Resource Center is to promote and facilitate the development of community prevention initiatives concerning the misuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by serving as a catalyst for mobilization and change in the communities of Service Area 21.

Service Area

The PRC serves Service Area 21, which consists of 6 counties: Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Perry, Scott, and Sainte Genevieve.

General Information

The PRC consists of C2000, Mental Health, Tobacco, and Partnership for Success (PFS) grants. Each grant has a specific focus in the field of prevention albeit substance use related or mental health related. The PRC has been located at Southeast Missouri State University for over 20 years.

Role Of The PRC

  • Provide technical assistance to registered coalitions targeting youth substance misuse prevention
  • Educate coalitions on the newest information from the state and federal government concerning substance misuse, grant opportunities, training opportunities, etc.
  • Offer trainings regarding substance misuse and other related topics
  • Work with ACT Missouri, the statewide training & resource center
  • Provide Service Area 21 with various print, activity, and educational resources
