Southeast Hosting FFA Contests This Weekend

Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Agriculture is hosting 446 students from 35 area schools at the annual National FFA contests which run through Saturday, April 1. Students will compete in the areas of Dairy Judging, Entomology, Poultry Judging, Land Judging, Floriculture, Agronomy, Farm Business Management, Livestock Evaluation, Milk Quality and Products, Nursery and Landscape, Horse Evaluation, Meats Evaluation & Technology, Public Speaking (prepared and extemporaneous), Agricultural Sales and others. [caption id='attachment_25330' align='alignright' width='300'] Area students compete in the FFA floriculture contest.[/caption] Participating schools are: Advance, Arcadia Valley, Bernie, Bloomfield, Campbell, Charleston, Couch, Delta, Doniphan, East Prairie, Farmington, Fredericktown, Greenville, Holcomb, Jackson, Malden, Meadow Heights, Naylor, Neelyville, New Madrid, Oran, Pemiscot County Career Center, Perryville, Poplar Bluff, Portageville, Puxico, Richland, Saxony, Senath-Hornersville, Sikeston, Southland, Ste. Genevieve, Twin Rivers and Woodland. Events began March 30 and are being held at the Show Me Center, Student Recreation Center, Magill Hall, Flickerwood Arena, the Missouri Department of Conservation Southeast Regional Office and at various community locations. Winners will be eligible to advance to state competition.
