Kenneth Mayberry Retiring After 27 Years With DPS

Kenneth Mayberry, chief law enforcement officer, captain and assistant director of Police Operations in the Department of Public Safety (DPS), is retiring from Southeast Missouri State University effective March 31. DPS invites the University community to celebrate his long and successful law enforcement career and the new chapter in his life with his wife, Janine, and sons Kameron and Kaden, with a retirement reception from 3-5 p.m. Friday, March 31, in Kem Statuary Hall in the Aleen Vogel Wehking Alumni Center. Mayberry has faithfully served Southeast Missouri State University for 27 years with the Department of Public Safety. Beginning as a patrol officer, he become a detective, and was promoted to sergeant and lieutenant, before assuming his current role. He has served on the Bollinger/Cape Girardeau Major Case Squad since 1995. In 2009, FBI Director Robert Mueller III recognized him for his assistance in collaborative investigation and strengthening relationships with federal law enforcement agencies when he selected Mayberry as one of the one percent of law enforcement personnel to attend the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Session 248. He also received the University Service Award of 2005 for Outstanding Service to the University. During his tenure with DPS, he raised awareness and taught the Alert. Lockdown. Inform. Counter Evacuate ( A.L.I.C.E.) Program to combat active shooter situations to thousands of faculty, students, staff and law enforcement in the Southeast Missouri State University service region.
