Regional Support Center Staff Participate in Prevention Day Events
03/17/2017
Four Regional Support Center (RSC) preventionists at Southeast Missouri State University recently attended the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America’s (CADCA) 27th National Leadership Forum and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) 13th Prevention Day in February. The theme of this year’s forum and Prevention Day activities in National Harbor, Maryland, was “Strengthening Community Voices.” These events attracted thousands of coalition representatives from across the nation who participated in interactive panels with top experts on substance misuse trends. Dynamic training sessions also covered marketing strategies and current drug trends. At the events, CADCA Chief Executive Officer and U.S. Army Retired Major Gen. Arthur T. Dean said he is looking forward to the future of prevention with great optimism and anticipation. He said 2016 “resulted in some great successes for our movement. There’s been a phenomenal increase in the interest, growth, and recognition of an evidence-based, community coalition approach to substance use.” The Southeast Regional Support Center (RSC), located in Cape Girardeau, works closely with ACT Missouri in the fight against substance misuse and mental health awareness. The RSC serves six counties in southeast Missouri -- Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Perry, Ste. Genevieve and Scott.
