Southeast Missouri State University will celebrate a historic milestone this October as it inaugurates Dr. Brad Hodson as the University’s 19th president. The inauguration ceremony will take place on Friday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend, marking the start of a new era at SEMO.
“Homecoming is the perfect time for Dr. Hodson’s inauguration because it brings together the full spirit of the University—students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community—all gathered to celebrate both our traditions and also our future,” said SEMO Board of Governors President Jim Limbaugh.
The inauguration is a highlight of a week of events designed to showcase the University’s academic excellence, community spirit, alumni impact, Redhawk pride and bold vision for the future. The celebrations will also mark the official launch of SEMO’s new brand, a message that speaks not only to what the University can offer to students but to the region. The new identity reflects SEMO’s role as catalyst for opportunity, empowering students with experience-driven learning, so they leave prepared to make an impact in classrooms, businesses, hospitals, and communities across Missouri and beyond.
“One of Dr. Hodson’s first goals was for SEMO to better tell its story, and our new narrative embodies the grit and ambition Southeast Missouri has always been known for,” said Limbaugh. “By introducing this new brand story alongside the inauguration and Homecoming, SEMO underscores its commitment to honoring tradition while fearlessly stepping into the future with the people and communities we serve.”
