Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) has once again been selected for the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) 2025 Transfer Honor Roll, placing SEMO among just 251 colleges and universities nationwide recognized for creating exemplary support systems and pathways for community college transfer students.
This distinction puts SEMO in the top 25% of institutions evaluated based on 40 core metrics—including transfer student success rates, financial aid accessibility, credit transfer policies, campus friendliness and bachelor’s degree completion outcomes. Universities across the Honor Roll cohort include an average 75% bachelor’s completion rate among transfers, 81% of credits accepted, and 74% of transfer students receiving merit-based financial aid.
“As a SEMO transfer student and Phi Theta Kappa member, I personally understand how PTK honors transfer students and champions their success,” said Lenell Hahn, assistant vice president of enrollment management and admissions at SEMO. “Our Transfer Center is dedicated to supporting students throughout their journey, making the transition smooth and successful. We are proud to be recognized as a PTK Transfer Honor Roll institution.”

SEMO’s Transfer Center, launched in October 2023, serves as a central hub for transfer and adult learners, guiding students from application to graduation through in-person, Zoom and phone-based advising. SEMO also continues to build on its financial support for transfer students through initiatives like the $1,000 Transfer Academic Scholarship and a $500 PTK award for eligible applicants.
“Each year we strive to be selected to the PTK Transfer Honor Roll and are thrilled to have received this award two years in a row. This award recognizes the value our institution sees in providing an outstanding transfer student experience,” said Brooke Lockhart, associate director of the transfer center. “Our entire campus embraces transfer students and this accomplishment truly showcases our commitment to making SEMO an excellent transfer option for them.”
This marks the second consecutive year SEMO has earned a place on PTK’s Honor Roll, underscoring the University’s sustained dedication to excellence in transfer student engagement.
