Southeast Missouri State University continues to be the region’s launchpad for student careers with its upcoming Career Expo on Wednesday, September 24, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Show Me Center.

Each year, hundreds of SEMO students and recent graduates take advantage of this unique on-campus experience to engage directly with employers who are eager to discover fresh talent. The Career Expo closes the gap between education and the workforce, giving students the first shot at internships, employment and career advancement with top employers.
“SEMO’s commitment to workforce development means our students graduate with a degree but are also ready to contribute to the local and regional economy,” said Dan Presson, SEMO’s assistant vice president of Economic and Workforce Development. “The Career Expo is a clear reflection of that. It’s where employers from diverse industries come to find and hire SEMO students and alumni because they know our graduates are confident, motivated and prepared.”

The expo will feature roughly 140 employers representing a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, technology, healthcare, construction, government and hospitality. This year, student can interact with employers like the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Saint Louis University School of Law, TG Missouri, Enterprise Mobility, ATB Technologies, BJC Healthcare and more.
SEMO’s Career Services also partners with Handshake, a national career platform where students can explore job and internship postings from across the country. Employers use the platform to search for candidates whose portfolios and experiences align with their needs, giving SEMO students added exposure beyond the expo itself.
“The Career Expo and Handshake are just two examples of how SEMO connects students directly with recruiters,” said Presson. “We focus on creating tailored connections between our students and employers at the local, regional and national levels, matching opportunities with the specific skills and knowledge students gain here at SEMO.”
The Career Expo is one indicator of the University’s mission to provide not just an education but a pathway to employment and community impact.
The expo is open to all SEMO students and alumni. Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally and bring copies of their resumes.
