Southeast Missouri State University’s Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in allied health provides healthcare professionals with a streamlined path to enhance their careers in just two years. Designed for working adults with a technical associate degree, the program helps graduates deepen their expertise, transition into leadership roles, and access higher earning potential in the medical imaging field.
“The program allows those with a two-year technical degree to seamlessly earn a four-year degree,” said Dr. Brad Deken, chair of the Department of Engineering & Technology. “By building on their existing skills with advanced coursework, graduates are prepared to advance in their careers.”
Developed in partnership with Saint Francis Healthcare System, the program reflects industry needs and emphasizes workforce readiness. Saint Francis supports its employees’ participation through tuition reimbursement, but the program welcomes students from all accredited institutions with an associate degree in applied science.
“Saint Francis’ involvement ensures our graduates are equipped to meet the demands of today’s healthcare industry,” said Dr. Jason Wagganer, chair of the Department of Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Sciences. “This collaboration underscores the program’s value for preparing students for leadership roles both locally and beyond.”
With a curriculum covering specialties such as MRI technology, radiography, and sonography, the program has options from partially to fully online, making it accessible to allied health professionals nationwide who can also take advantage of SEMO’s nationwide tuition rate, meaning no out-of-state tuition.
SEMO’s program acknowledges the value of professional experience, enabling students to earn Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) credits for prior coursework or expertise, reducing the number of courses required for the degree.
