Southeast Missouri State University’s Student Research Conference (SRC) will take place April 18 - 19 in the University Ballroom, returning to a live event for the first time in three years.
The conference, hosted by the Jane Stephens Honors Program, showcases research from both undergraduate and graduate students at Southeast from all disciplines. It is the 31st year the conference has been held.
“The Student Research Conference aims to encourage, attract, recognize, promote and showcase research performed by students and promote a culture that values research and scholarly creative activity at Southeast,” said Kate Appleman, Southeast graduate student and this year’s conference chair. “The biggest benefit is that it gives our students the opportunity to showcase their research and gain valuable experience through presenting their findings.”
Fifty-three projects are slated to be presented this week, many with multiple student authors presenting.
“We are bringing it back to its original format and hope to see it grow as time goes on,” Appleman said. “The SRC allows students, faculty, and staff to gain a better perspective on what our different programs have to offer.”
Student presenters are eligible to compete for recognition and awards given in five categories: graduate oral presentation, graduate poster session, undergraduate oral presentation, undergraduate poster session, and senior capstone seminar.
There are also several roundtable discussions throughout the conference with a variety of topics. If interested in participating in roundtables, email src@semo.edu.
The 2023 Student Research Conference will be from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days in the University Ballroom. For more information on the annual event, visit the Student Research Conference webpage.
