The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus is hosting a painting workshop by Leon Basler.
The three day workshop requires preregistration for the limited seating and occurs September 9-11, from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day.
“I feel passion…transforming a vision in to a piece of art,” Leon Basler said, “from realism to abstract to impressionism using various mediums.”
This class is good for any level artist to learn in a small group environment. Participants may use supplies they already have in mediums they feel comfortable with or may make use of acrylics if they are new to painting and leery of other mediums.
"When you're around other artists, you're always learning," Ellen Flentge, Crisp Museum’s curator of education, said. “I first saw his attractive large-scale, layered, acrylic, landscape paintings at Ste. Genevieve’s Silver Sycamore Gallery of Fine Art,” where Basler is managing partner.
Basler attended Southeast Missouri State University, Chicago Art Institute, Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, American Academy of Fine Arts, Chicago, and Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. His artwork is displayed in various airports throughout the United States and galleries in Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakot, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
The workshop fee is $40 and open to the public. Preregister at Crisp Museum during open hours or online www.semo.edu/museum. If you have questions, please contact the museum at (573) 651-2260 or museum@semo.edu. More details will be given with a completed registration.
Crisp Museum is located inside Southeast’s River Campus at 518 S. Fountain St., Cape Girardeau, MO.
