2021 BFA Dance graduate, Kyndall Walton, recently accepted a contract from Virgin Voyages as an aerialist and dancer in two productions on the cruise ship.
Training begins at the end of May in Florida and at the end of June, she'll set sail across the Mediterranean.
Since graduating last May, Walton has been training at the San Diego Circus Center where she gained admittance to their pro-track program. This 1-year program has increased her skills in aerial work, dance, tumbling, and circus arts skills such as juggling and hand balancing.
Walton, a Florissant, Missouri, native, became interested in aerial dance during her sophomore year at Southeast. She was fascinated by the beautiful shapes that were made and how much it related to dance. Walton's training during the past year, her aerial experience, and the dance training she received during her time at Southeast, allowed her to enter the job market with a larger set of skills helping her to get this job with Virgin Voyages as well as future opportunities.
"Kyndall will undoubtedly be successful," said Associate Professor and Coordinator of Dance Hilary Peterson, "because of the work ethic, determination and commitment to quality she developed while at Southeast."
Walton also recently traveled to Las Vegas for a circus artist competition, Viva Fest. She received first place in the category for Emerging Pro Hammock.
