Southeast Missouri State University will observe National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) from Feb. 21-27.
The campus community is invited to attend a guest lecture with Lolly Wool, eating disorder expert and Alsana’s Regional Executive Director for eating disorder treatment. Wool has presented across the country to various associations and programs, and brings a personal, compelling and fresh perspective to how we think about body image.
The lecture will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23 in the University Center Ballroom A. Join Wool for a conversation about body image and help build a movement to raise awareness and support those affected by eating disorders.
In the United States, one or two out of every 100 students will struggle with an eating disorder. There is no single cause of body dissatisfaction or disordered eating. Yet, research is increasingly clear that media does indeed contribute. Additionally, exposure to and pressure by the media increases body dissatisfaction and disordered eating.
