David C. Martin of Bernie, Missouri, today was sworn in as a member of the Southeast Missouri State Board of Governors.
Martin was appointed by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson on Jan. 3 and confirmed by the Missouri Senate on Jan. 20. He replaces Phillip M. Britt, whose term on the Board expired Jan. 1. Martin’s term will expire Jan, 1, 2028.
Martin is the owner and operator of Martin Grain Company, Martin Landgrading and Martin Rice Company. He has been a member of the Missouri Rice Advisor Board since 2007, the Rice Foundation Board since 2017 and the USA Rice Federation Policy Task Force since 2020. He has been a member of the Missouri Rice Research and Merchandising Council since 2015, and served as its chairman in 2020.
Martin grew up in southeast Missouri. He has worked on his family farm since the late 1970s before attending Southeast and earning a Bachelor of Science in agribusiness. During his free time, he enjoys cooking and traveling.
