Enjoy a magical night of song and dance with Southeast Missouri State University students at The Jeanine Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance’s Extravaganza on Feb. 15.
The Extravaganza will be held in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall on Southeast’s River Campus with a 5:30 p.m. social hour of light entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity to interact with Southeast senior students.
This year’s show includes a preview performance of “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” the new Broadway adaption of the classic musical about a young woman forced into a life of servitude by her cruel stepmother and self-centered stepsisters, who dreams of a better life. This contemporary take on the classic tale features Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs.
Children are encouraged to come dressed in costume, and after the show, guests and families are invited to meet the cast and have their photos taken with Cinderella, the Prince and more.
The Extravaganza serves as the primary fundraiser to benefit Conservatory students to travel to New York City or Los Angeles and to participate in a series of master classes and to showcase their talents for agents and casting directors.
“This year’s Extravaganza is going to be great fun for the entire family,” said Dr. Kenn Stilson, chair of the Conservatory. “There’s nothing like the beauty and magic of ‘Cinderella,’ and it supports our students as they launch their careers in theatre and dance. We hope you’ll join us for this singular event.”
The Extravaganza is sponsored by Commerce Bank, SoutheastHEALTH and Ciao Ristorante + Enoteca of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
