Experiential learning. Those are fancy words for getting real world experience. At Southeast, we believe education means more than classroom experience. That's why, here, you’ll discuss policy at a D.C. think-tank, conduct an archaeological excavation, edit a literary journal, work at the state or federal capitol, or intern at one of 40+ federal, state or local law enforcement agencies all as part of your curriculum.

/// From the dean

Welcome to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. We comprise five academic departments covering 16 distinct subject areas ranging from anthropology to social work. All of our programs share some things in common. They instill core skills necessary for any graduate to find success after college and to function as responsible citizens: critical and analytical thinking, effective written and spoken communication, appreciation for cultural diversity, understanding of history and politics, and the ability to work with others. Time and again, these skill sets are what employers say they value. Google it.

Before we get you hired though, let’s talk about your time in the college. It can be filled with study abroad opportunities, competitions, valuable experiential learning opportunities, and faculty who do what they do because they want to teach you. Their path is to help you find yours.

Please explore our site and discover our programs. If you’d like more information or just want to talk about your educational possibilities, don’t hesitate to contact us. There’s much more we’re excited to share with you about the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
