Air Conditioning-Window Units

Due to several reasons (i.e. electrical circuit overloads and circulation/ventilation requirements), Facilities Management discourages the use of window air conditioning units. Requests for the installation of window air conditioning units should be submitted for evaluation to the Facilities Management Director. If approved, the requesting department may be responsible for any expenses incurred.


Requests to hang banners on campus should be directed to Facilities Management through iServiceDesk at least three days prior to the desired display date. Requests made without proper and reasonable time scheduling will be charged to the requesting department or organization.

Building Coordinators

Building coordinator assignments are maintained by Facilities Management. Building coordinator responsibilities include employee key request approvals, emergency planning activities, recycling coordination, and building service needs. For more information, please call x2331.


Requests for the installation of new carpeting or the replacement of existing carpeting must be submitted as a work order request through iServiceDesk.

Computer Installations

Requests for installation of computers and computer equipment should be directed to Computer Services at x4357.

Equipment (Departmentally Owned)

Campus departments should contact Facilities Management prior to procuring any special equipment to ensure compatibility with existing building systems. Failure to do so could cause operational and/or maintenance problems, as well as future costs to the procuring department. Facilities Management will provide recommendations and estimates upon request. Any additional electric installation, plumbing, or construction needed to accommodate the equipment will be fully billable to the department. Any future maintenance to the equipment done by Facilities Management is chargeable to the department.

Furniture/Equipment Assembly

Facilities Management personnel will assemble new furniture or other departmental equipment upon request. However, labor and any necessary materials will be billed to the department for assembly. Therefore, it is recommended that all furniture and equipment be ordered as “delivered and assembled”. Requests can be submitted through iServiceDesk.


Facilities Management works in cooperation with various academic departments on campus to provide students at the undergraduate- and graduate-level with internships in various fields of study, such as accounting, management, horticulture, interior design, and construction management.

Interruption of Utilities

Facilities Management makes every effort to minimize utility outages on campus. However, periodic maintenance and emergencies may require the curtailment of utility services on campus. Planned shutdowns are communicated via building coordinators and campus newswire well in advance to allow for planning by those affected. Emergency or unforeseen shutdowns will normally be self evident in nature and will be corrected or bypassed as soon as possible. If there is a life threatening situation, call 911 or the Department of Public Safety at x2215 immediately. For all other situations, please contact Facilities Management at x2349 and we will correct the problem as quickly as possible.


Requests to paint murals on the lower level wall of the Power Plant should be directed to the Student Government office at x2896.


Painting requests, including touch-up of damaged paint surfaces, should be submitted as a work order request through iServiceDesk. Painting requests due to normal wear and tear are considered non-chargeable maintenance. However, requests due to vandalism or preference are considered chargeable and will be billed to the responsible party.

Roof Areas

No one is allowed on, or allowed to place equipment on, the roof of any campus building without prior approval from Facilities Management.

Space Heaters

Facilities Management discourages the use of space heaters. However, when necessary, Facilities Management will provide customers appropriate units based on a formal request.

Telephone, Internet, and Cable TV Service

Requests for telephone services, cable TV and LAN installations should be directed to Telecommunications at x2575.

Tool Loans

Hand tools can be requested by campus personnel for departmental use on a limited basis by using the iService desk. All loaned items must be returned in a timely manner. The department is responsible for the repair/replacement of any tools lost, stolen or damaged while checked out to the department. Hand tools are also available for loan to students. Students are required to provide their Banner I.D and telephone number, and will be billed for the replacement cost of any tool not returned or returned damaged. Power tools are not available for loan to students. Tools can be checked out at the Facilities Management Service Center Warehouse located at 610 Washington Street during regular University hours.

Washers & Dryers

Washers and dryers in the residence halls are maintained and serviced through the Office of Residence Life. For service to these items please contact Residence Life at x2274.
