Due to the high academic quality that is typical of undergraduate majors in communication disorders, our students frequently seek out admissions to the Jane Stephens Honors Program at Southeast Missouri State University. Specific admissions, program, and retention criteria for the honors program are available on the honors program website.
The faculty in Communication Disorders is strongly committed to students who meet criteria for the honors program and strive to assist students in whatever way possible in meeting the honors program requirements. Students currently in the honors program or who wish to pursue the honors program should alert their academic advisor.
All undergraduate major courses, excluding clinical practicum, are potential candidates for honors courses. The honors student should notify the course instructor at the beginning of the course if they intend to take a course for honors credit. The specific assignments and evaluation criteria of the honors project should then be agreed upon between the instructor and the honors student. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure appropriate documentation has been completed at the beginning and the conclusion of the honors project.
